Another bright, sun shining day in Odyssey. Jared got out of his bed and quickly got ready. Upon opening his door, he was by Elf of Rivendell, Ferder, and Mellow.

"Whats up?" Jared asked curiously.
"Dude, Eiram is missing!" Elf exclaimed.
"We looked everywhere, no one has seen her since last night." Ferder explains.
"Any clues as to what happened?" Jared asks inquisitively.
"None." Mellow declares.
"Any leads?" Jared continues.
"Uh, I said none." Mellow interjects.
"Actually, Mellow, you said there were no clues. You said nothing about any leads. They are two different things." Jared said matter of factly.
"Whatever." Mellow said getting a little impatient.
"Well, I'll call a meeting in an hour and we'll start an investigation." Jared said thinking out loud

An hour later, everyone was gathered at the Town Hall. Jared walks up to the front and grabs the microphone. "We, the citizens of Odyssey have a mystery on our hands. From all indications, our fellow citizen, Eiram, has turned up missing. This comes after her duckies dissapear without a trace." Jared anounces.
"And my socks too!" Zwall wailed.
"And Zwall's socks. This is three tings that have turned up missing in the past 24 hours. We shall find the one responsible, if it is one single person. We are currently investigating some possible leads. Be on the lookout for suspicious activities, and report them imediately. We will not tolerate this kind of activity in the town of Odyssey. Justice will be served." Jared finished, sweat dripping off his face.

Elf of Rivendell, Ferder and Mellow clapped joyfully as Jared stepped down.

"Jared!" Elf of Rivendell yelled. "Will you deputize us for this investigation?" Elf ask excitedly.
"Sure. For this investigation.

What would be her motive? The only thing that at this point would be accomplished by her contrived disappeance would be the covering-up of a theft of Zwall's socks.

For example, she may have swiped the socks, but then, afraid that people were on to her, made up a story about losing a duckie. Then, when that story started to cave, she ran... making it look like a forced disappearance. And therefore, it looks like she was the primary victim when really she was the culprit.

But that only works if she was only after a pair of socks. Unless...

If we assume that she is guilty and that she wanted us to tie in the theft with the disappearance, perhaps the socks theft was to start a pattern. And even though she's missing, she's still in Odyssey, waiting to strike against Zwall. And maybe she'll, uh, ummm... uh... dispose of the body? And do it well so everyone thinks that he's missing, not dead? Then, if she turns up in town in a few months with a tale of kidnapping, she'll be a victim who escaped (but doesn't have much to tell the police) and will be completely in the clear on her act of premeditated murder.

But somehow, I strongly doubt that's the way this case is headed! Yellow Smile

Oh, and Hawkeye? Twice in your story, you had the fake me say the phrase "turned up missing." Actually, I would never say that, as if something turns up, it is by definition FOUND, not missing. Nothing can turn up and still be missing! And "found missing" would be even worse, as you can't find something and still have it be missing! I demand that you give me more eloquent speeches! Wink

if i were to "kindnapp" myself it wouldn't be kidnapping it'd be running away. i have no need for socks i have my own duckie socks thank-you. i have no interest in Zwall's socks.

Actually, it would be a staged kidnapping. Really, just a running away made to look like there was a kidnapping (as in, by making some signs of struggle in your home, etc.). You'd then hide out in Odyssey somewhere.

And then you'd kill Zwall, the real reason for all of this (not sure of your motive...), dispose of the body and make it look as if he was kidnapped as well, skip town for a few months, return with a story of being kidnapped and Zwall being there as well and when your captor wasn't watching, escaping.

And you'd try to lead investigators to the place, but it would be an empty warehouse. You'd say they must have moved or something.

And you'd never be suspected of your terrible crime!

But... if you're missing, why are you here? Wink

[And by the way, the above is NOT my theory... I say it tongue-in-cheek and in an attempt to find a possible way just about ANYONE could have committed the crime!]
