| Exactly. Although, it does say it's a shame, but not that it's wrong. |

| There was a reason Sampson had long hair, God gave him his strength through his hair. I think Sampson was the exception not the standard. I don't think it was normal for God fearing men to have long hair. If Paul doesn't favor it, then I'll go with Paul. He was a great man of God. |

Okay, Sid...
On the issue of long hair: First, my Lord Jesus Christ did NOT have long hair. Just because some artists started painting Him as such hundreds of years after his death doesn't mean it's true. For one thing, Jews were forbidden to have long hair! Your argument that everyone back then had long hair is, quite frankly, absolutely false. There were, I believe, 613 Jewish laws and quite a few of them dealt with appearance; a Jew could NOT have long hair.
Another reason that Jesus could not have had long hair and why no Christian man should, either. The apostle Paul, writing to the church in Corinth (most of the Corinthians were Gentiles, by the way; just so you don't think this only applies to Jews...), said, "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" (I Corinthians 11:14). If the Apostle Paul, inspired of God, says that it's shameful to have long hair, why would I do it? And there is absolutely no way that Christ did anything that God deems shameful!
As for the example of Samson and the Nazarites, they were specifically ordered by God to do otherwise as a message to the people. God also told the prophet Isaiah to live in the city completely naked for three years while allowing his wife to leave him to marry a male prostitute. Would you consider this completely acceptable for a Christian to do? Of course not!
You also asked about women's hair. The Bible says that long hair is an ornament upon the head of a woman... it's MEN who aren't supposed to have long hair, according to the Bible. |

He he he
Some of my favorite topics of disscusion you have delved into here.
I'm not sure whether or not Jesus had long hair or not. I believe the reason he would have had long hair, is because like sampson, he was a part of the nazarene "order". So that's debatable.
Also whith Isaih there man, that was a symbolic thing. He was in vision, if you read the scriptures correctly. No years spent lying down for him. It all means something special to us now in our day. Of course, what exactly it means. I won't disclose. |

No, that's wrong. Jesus was a Nazarine (And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a NAZERINE. - Matthew 2:23); Samson was a Nazarite (That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a NAZARITE unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. - Judges 16:17).
Nazarites were a sect called by God in old testament times to set themselves appart from the rest of the people. Their practices were different in many ways, including the fact that no razor could come upon their heads. Jesus, though, was a NAZERINE, meaning that he lived in the city of Nazerith. This isn't much different than calling someone, say, a New Yorker or even, to go into the fictional, an Odyssian. Jesus was not of the Nazarite sect and thus having long hair would have been forbidden.
Jesus did NOT have long hair. And just in case you were wondering after seeing all the silly paintings, he also didn't have a yellow halo above his head, could never have afforded to wear a white robe with a blue sash and did not have pale white skin. |
