He never finished his studies, anyway. His title of "Reverend" was only bestowed upon him later, after he became famous. His school figured that even though he dropped out, if they graduated him - even belatedly - they'd get good press. So, he didn't even EARN the title.
And I've never liked it, either. You don't revere pastors, you revere God. What's wrong with calling a pastor "pastor"? Or "preacher"? Personally, I like the word pastor more, as its meaning alludes to the fact that the man is to lead the congregation, not just preach on Sunday. But anyway... |
