I'd say 16 at the youngest, and then it depends on the maturity of those involved. I will say, though, that for myself, and my friends that didn't date until they were older... like 18-20... seemed to end up in a more fulfilling relationship.
Things like this, however, have no official rule book. It all depends on the individual person.
EDIT: Woah, woah, woah! Shouldn't this be in OFF-TOPIC!? Unless this ties into the love letter thing... Otherwise we are all DOOMED!! Or... well, or maybe not. |

Well, Im resisting the urge to advertize the benefits of courting over dating, but either way, why even bother until you are nearing being mentally, spiritualls, physically and maturely for mariage? After all, that is what the end desired result is.....
Why go car shopping if you are nearing needing and being able to get a car? |

I do recall this festive discussion from some time ago at the old board.
It might be the Reagan in me, but I forget the courtship/dating overall differences. Well, not all of them, but a lot of the details. |

howdy! YES well even though i have NO idea who you poeple are....'spanks for the thoughts! Im 17 so that MUST mean that im approching that wonderful and complex world of dating. Hmm... crazy topic eh? It's so hard to put labels on.. you know 'what age to date' etc..
I dunno, I'm 18, never gone on a date, or had a boyfriend.. and SO PROUD that I haven't bought the worlds views that 'All you need is Love' you know... or 'you're so missing out on life if you don't have a bf and go to prom..etc.'
Sure probably the reason I've never fallen in love is cuz I think I'm afraid I'd like it.. and it would ruin my personal views of my own life... bwhaha.. I don't know what I'm trying to say here.
Well I'd have to agree with the statement that you know you've gotta be mature physically and spiritually before you date.. I mean, it's the process of finding your spouse for life..
In a sense.. I find it mind boggling when a couple are dating and they are each other's first bf/gf. Say they got along THE BEST.. they believed the same things.. whatever you know? Wouldn't you want to see if one's "more right" for someone else? ON the flip side.. if you love each other, and things are right with God.. go for it... Why would you need to see what else is out there?
Like I said before.. I dunno.. I don't know anything!!

Alright.. I find it mind boggling when a couple are dating and they are each other's first bf/gf. Say they got along THE BEST.. they believed the same things.. whatever you know? Wouldn't you want to see if one's "more right" for someone else? Well the one side of Laura says: “dating’s sick.. you’re just going from one person to the next.. doing who knows what to each other’s self-esteem, emotions.. whatever” then the other side says, “well if you only date one person in your life before getting married.. how do you know if you two will actually make it together.” [color=#444444]ON the flip side.. if you love each other, and things are right with God.. go for it... Why would you need to see what else is out there? [/color]BUT then.. well if you two are both mature beings, living to glorify God, helping each other in their walks with Christ.. YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STREGNTHENS US… so even if you only date the one person and married them.. WITH GOD.. and time, and love, and understanding, and patience.. you can overcome anything with each other.. you can MAKE it work. I hope this brings some insight??
