This is similar to the post "France and Iraq" but different too.
My sister heard this morning on the radio, that McDonalds is no longer serving french fries... they are serving American Fries? Since I didn't hear this personally, I am wondering if maybe it is a joke. At least I think it should be a joke.
I know the whole 'boycott france deal' and while I can understand that to some extent - do we really have to change the name of a fast food 'delicacy'? And where do we stop? I mean theres frenchbread, french toast, french braids, and dare I say it ... french kissing???
My immeadiate family is what is often defined as "multi cultural" so in joking at the breakfast table this morning we came up with this solution:
we have Vietnamese bread, caucasion fries, Haitian toast, and African Braids. Kissing is not discussed at the breakfast table.
So yeah, who else thinks this is just to wierd.

That's just.... *BLOWS OFF GOVERNMENT* Why don't we pass laws that make a difference like a law against domestic violence and more rights for rape victims? *IS STEAMED*
French Fries are just... it's just FOOD! They're not even french! *slams head into wall* |

Utter nonsense.
That's like saying "Let's make a law against murder." Domestic violence IS against the law, obviously! And when a person commits it, they can and are convicted and punished for that crime.
We don't need a law against it -- or new laws against it, for that matter. We already have them.
Besides, this is quite a non sequitur here. We should spend less time worrying about fries so we can spend more time worrying about pushing for laws that already exist? Huh? You know what? I think we should stop posting here. Why? Because we should put an end to, uh, umm, how about... uh, smoking. Yeah.
And you're scratching your head wondering where the connection is, right? Well, after reading your comments, that's exactly what I was doing.
Also, more rights for rape victims? Uh, what? Sorry, but I'm utterly confused. Rape is obviously a terrible crime and needs to be punished and needs to be punished severely enough that people think twice about doing it.
But... what "more rights" are you talking about? What rights does a rape victim deserve that the rest of Americans don't? What rights specifically DO you give a rape victim? This makes even less sense than your first comment.
Regardless of your views on changing names of foodstuffs featuring the name of that whining, socialist country that loses all its wars, can't you see that these arguments make absolutely no sense? Not only do they have nothing to do with the topic at hand, but they furthermore have nothing to do with anything! |

| I don't think our government should be passing laws forcing name changes, and I don't think we should go overboard, but I do think we should show our disdain of sorts for the French government's actions. |

No laws will force any companies to change names of products. McDonalds will not be forced to serve "freedom fries."
The only thing that went through Congress was a request and voice affirmation for changing the name on the menu in the Congressional building. |

And I am still going to wear french braids.
Inside out, upside down, and right side out if I feel like it. |
