President Bush is addressing the nation tonight at 8 PM Eastern. It is expected to be a final ultimatim on the Iraq situation... perhaps telling Saddam that he has 72 hours left to leave the country or something.

Or, who knows... perhaps President Bush will say something along the lines of, "As I speak, Saddam's palaces are aflame. Six hundred aircraft are currently in the skies over Iraq..."

Okay, maybe not, but even though it's not the most likely possibility, don't rule out a complete declaration of war tonight. This could be war in 2-3 days -- or it could be war now.

Be sure to watch!

And if you can't watch it on TV, whitehouse.gov should have a live video webcast. Smile

I listened to it! It was a really good speech. We really need to remember to pray for our troops and our nation.

IL_Queen: You have no reason to be scared! God is with you!

Jeremiah 46
28 Do not fear, O Jacob my servant,
for I am with you," declares the LORD.....

You can put your name in there.

2 Timothy 1
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Genesis 50
21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

There are many many more references, in context and out.

Here are a few more good verses:

Isaiah 41
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

I know probably a lot of people have heard the following, but it is one of my favorite passages in the Psalms. A good time to reflect on how God protects us at all times.

Psalm 23(KJV):

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

After hearing President Bush's sobering speech last night, I know I did feel some anxiety about what today, tomorrow and the days following might hold. I was looking through my Bible and I came across a psalm that we sing in church often. Psalm 46: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, through the earth be removed, an through the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters therof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling therof.
There is a river, the streams wherof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
The heathen raged, the kindoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made on the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted among the earth.
THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US; THE GOD OF JACOB IS OUR REFUGE.

I don't know about ya'all, but I found comfort in these verses, and also the afforementioned.
The last time our country went to war (Persian Gulf War) I was pretty young, but I still remember haveing some panic at the thought of WAR. It was then that my mother helped me give my heart to the Lord, and I was saved on the eve of the Persian Gulf War. I don't know what might happen or who this war might influence, but I know hat I definitely have my faith in the Lord. It is a comforting feeling, knowing that God is our Refuge. He knows what is going on--and won't leave our country in the dust. If he takes notice of even a little sparrow, how much more does he take care and watch over those who love Him!
~~~something to think about...
