Today is the day were you get to go to school in all green and know your not the only one with green on and better yet you wont get pinched  and it is a speashal holiday set asside for the Irish I personaly think we should have today off |

| I don`t know that the day was originally intended to celebrate the Irish so much as it was most likely instituted in the early chuch as a day honoring St. Patrick. However, like Valentine`s Day, I think a lot of the meaning has been lost on Americans. If anyone had the Odyssey Episodes of "Patrick:A Heart Aflame", I would suggest listening to them! I am going to wager a wild guess that the origional St. Patrick`s Day was instituted to honor this particular individual. This is just me wildly speculating, so if anyone has more accurate historical data, that would be great. |

I am quite suprised that IL Queen was not mad at me when I mentioned quite some time ago that Valentine`s Day is basically pointless-a holiday somewhat the same as St. Patrick`s Day(in that it was named after a person).  |
