|
Okay, I've noticed many people have asked the question about Agnus setting the table for Timmy. I'm going to try to give a stab at it. This whole post is assuming your are familiar with the NovaCom episodes, and "The Other Woman".
It was in "The Other Woman" that Tom first explains Agnus' mental problems. He explains that basically they got married after Timmy, Tom's first wife, and Agnus' first husband had all died. Agnus got it into her head that they should have a child (to replace Timmy I guess) but then the doctor's figured out she couldn't have children. This launched her into her mental depression thingy.
I'm not sure if anyone else on the board is familiar with mental patients or not but I have known a few and I have two brothers in the medical proffession. From what I understand, some forms of mental illnesses not only mess up memories or completely delete memories, but they also ADD memories. I'm guessing that Agnus' has that sort of disorder. She never actually met Timmy but she has convinced herself that he lives with them. It is apparently not that uncommon for patients to do this. I can only assume this is what the writers were thinking when they wrote "The Other Woman" since she says at the end "Tom, give Timmy all my love" after it had been explained previously that she had never even met Timmy. Such a big goof I would think was not really a goof.
Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. (unless someone disproves it)
Also, I seriously doubt if the appearance of Joanne completely healed her of her mental illness. It seems that Agnus has the type of disorder that causes her to have "her good days and bad days". Joanne coming back may be the beginning of the end of the illness but I doubt if it's the end completely. From what I understand, people with that kind of disorder do a lot better when they have familiar people/things/places around them. Anyway, that's just another theory.
BTW, I do like Agnus in small doses. I hope the writers continue to writer her in every 4 albums or so. |

| It doesn't really matter--Agnes...Agnus... who cares? They sound the same. I like your summary on Agnes/Agnus's mental illness, Gandalf. Sounds like a pretty good theory to me. |
