| You (and me and everyone else) deserves to burn in hell just as much as he does. I want him to become a Christian. I want him to stop hurting people, so yeah, I hope he dies. |

| Under God's infinite holiness, we are all equally sinful and deserving of the lake of fire. But God gave power to governments and it is their responsibility to confront evil and to take action against those who would injure the people of the nation the government represents. |

I was merely referring to the Democratic(more specifically:Liberal) and Anti-War sentiment that has been circulating lately. People being critized and called practically everything from A to Z for supporting Bush, people who protest the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, or flying the American flag- or, in essence showing any form of patriotism. It seems that there are people/groups out there that would like you to feel treacherous or treasonous for supporting your own country or the President. And while I know this does not include the vast majority of Americans, it is sad that something like this even exists. And now, when I see the protesters burning flags and the professors in the schools trying to justify(in some cases even participating) in these horrendous acts, it just makes my blood boil(for lack of a better term ), I know that one on the reasons that makes this country special is it`s allownce of free speech, but recently, some of these things are too awful to tolerate. I think when I posted that note a while ago, I was just agreeing with a similar post along those lines. I hope that answered your question, even if it was a bit lengthly! |

| Ok, yeah, your very correct. Oddly enough I thought of that yesterday. I was thinking I should make a sign for my vehicle that states I support Iraqi liberation, our troops, and president Bush. I am sure if I do, my vehicle will be vandalized, but Im not going to let that stop me. |

I believe in the just war theory; that war must be the last resort, that it must target only combatants, must not be an imperial, expansionist war, etc.
Over the last 12 years, Sadam has not been allowed to produce weapons of mass destruction. However, he booted out UN inspectors and has had years to create these weapons. So now that every informed person believes he has them, we have to decide whether or not to go to war.
If this war was all about disarmament, then I would completely support it. Iraq is in the most volatile area of the world; being within 150 km of Israel creates a certain urgency to the disarming of Sadam. (if Sadam were to launch some weapons of mass destruction at Israel, I don't think Israel would respond with any restraint, and Israel has nukes...) UN inspections were never expected to be successful and the world is left with the option of appeasement or war.
We know from history that appeasement doesn't work. Britain and France tried to appease Hitler in 1935, even after his military aggression towards Austria and other countries with a German population. Eventually the world was pulled into war. Would it not have made more sense to attack Germany before Hitler had manufactured the most powerful army on earth? I believe we have a similar situation in Iraq today, we have seen years of appeasement and proclaimed ignorance of Sadam's activities.
Now Bush is at war. The BIG problem with war is that Bush wants a regime change. It makes sense; disarm sadam and he'll rearm. But what do you replace it with? a democracy? Bush, and most americans with him, wants to replace it with a western style democracy. I think this is rather short-sighted. Imagine, if the Iraqi people were to elect an anti-american government, is Bush going to stand back and say: "The people of Iraq have spoken, good for them!" I doubt it.
Perhaps a constitutional monarchy like Jordan's would be appropriate. The Iraqis are used to a dictatorship-style government, and a democracy doesn't fit into their political culture. They are not used to any sort of political participation, all they want is freedom to live and prosper. A benevolent King may be the best option.
But in the United States, will Bush be re-elected if he replaces one dictator with another? I doubt the american populate will be so long-sighted to see that would be the right thing.... |
