|
Does anyone know how to (cheaply) convert a MP3 file into a CDA (like the ones that can be played on a CD player)? I want to put the "Family Portraits" on CD but my CD player doesn't play MP3's.

Two of the easiest ways I can think of:
1) Download Winamp, and read up on how to convert MP3 to WAV. Then, use your burning software to make an Audio CD (you have software that came with the CD-writer, right?)
2) Download the demo of Nero, which I believe is at nero.com It will convert MP3s straight to Disc! The demo works only for a few weeks, but that can be worked around by messing with the date on your computer.
Hope this helps!!

Hey Thanks! I've never heard of Winamp, does it cost and how much? Also, do WAV files work on a regular CD player? I was under the impression that only CDA files worked...

That's correct, Bennett... However, most CD burning applications, when in the music setting, can convert a .wav file to .cda.

Winamp is a free program available at www.winamp.com, and you can get plugins for it to do just about anything. (including play Windows media and real audio files) Winamp is a genereal purpose player and is small. Programs like Nero usually can convert most popular music formats to the type the cd requires (cda)....

Winamp is a totally free MP3 player. Personally, I suggest going with their older Winamp 2.x version, which I believe is much easier to use. I may be in the minority on this, tho.
Anyway, CDA files are technically CD-Tracks. I believe you cannot just covert to CDA and copy it to a disk...nor can you just copy a CDA off of a disk without converting it to something (WAV, MP3, OGG) You must use a Audio-CD writing program, which almost always comes with the Disk writer. If not, the Nero demo I mentioned is a good start.

I would also recommend the Nero download, I use it to convert my online music files to disc.
