I think the shorties idea, in and of itself, was not bad. It's just that they would have fit better into a setting kids a KIDS radio show or BTV. Those are where the more "zany" parts of AIO are allowed to be silly and a little far fetched. For example, it's easier to beleive Whit as a robot in a cautionary tale in the Twilife Zone, but not as a real-life story.
Those in-betweeners things were hit-and-miss to me. Some were funny, while some limped along. Paul Herlinger's Jewish-sounding accent is cute on a limited basis, but not every episode.

Thanks for correcting that, Nathan. I'm not sure why I associated it with Heatwave... maybe because of the "detective music" connection (I think they used similar music)... or maybe it's just that I don't remember much.
Anyway, I agree with your assessment of its inclusion. It seems incredibly out-of-place in the episode and extremely unlike Odyssey. Yeah, I guess skin's important, but... let's get on with the episode!  |
