Was that your attempt at sarcasim, Felicity, or do you really believe that "let's just all get along" rhetoric?
|
how come you always have to ask people if they are being sarcastic? Now, forgive me if I get this wrong falicity, but she said "I don't want to die or get nuked by a bomb!!!!" Someone who believes that war is right could still say that. And say that they wished people got along. Don't you? Maybe she did mean what you thought she did, but try not to assume.
This post is perfectly pointless, I'm not even sure if I mean what I say. I think you sounded almost as insensitive as my brother and that sorta got me upset. |

Well, because I wasn't sure of her meaning, I asked if she was being sarcastic. I didn't want to assume that she meant what I thought she meant... I'm rather sure, but not 100% due to the way she said it.
I'm sorry if I sounded insensative... but I really am tired of anti-war arguments that make no sense. I wasn't railing against Felicity but against the anti-war movement and the liberals that are dispensing that misinformation.
It just seems to me that peace attempts initiated by the US and UN have failed for 12 years and to wait any longer is a very, very poor idea.
Also, of course I don't want to be "nuked" -- which is one great reason to support this war! |

Ok, I'm sorry. I think most people agree with you here, because... well...cause you're right. |

No, I wasn't being sarcastic. A friend of mine told me about the supposibly war that might happen and my most of my guy friends, even my brother, are getting calls to get physicals done for war. *sniffles* I just don't like to talk about it. It scares me too much.
And, yes, I think we could all get along. Good or bad, Bin Laden is still a person. God loves us all. This is just like Hitler, only in the Middle East.
This is how I try not to worry about the war, Rose. I look at Bin Laden as a Grim, or a black dog that means death. We're the innocent people in a fairy tale land where nothing ever goes wrong and the Grim strikes us. Ex: September 11th.
Like a quest, we have to travel to lands far beyond to fight the evil that has been leaked into our once peaceful society.
If that seems silly to other people, I'm sorry, but that's how I get over things and cope with them. I pray too! *smile* |

A friend of yours told you about it? As in, recently? This whole situation has been escalating for over a year! Concerning your friends, it sounds like they are planning to volunteer... impressive! It's not an easy or desirable job. It's nice to hear about people willing to step up to keep this nation free.

I'm sorry, but I cannot believe that. In a post-Garden of Eden world, we cannot all get along. And bin Laden is definitely bad, and if he remains alive, yes, he is a person. And yes, God loves us all... but he also has righteous wrath, remember. He hates sin. He's a God of love, but also of justice. And while God may love bin Laden as He loves all people, he does punish... since I do not consider it likely that bin Laden rejected Islam and turned to Christ in his final hours (or, if they have not yet come, I do not believe that it is likely that he will do so), I do believe that he will spend eternity in the lake of fire. God is love, but He is also holy.
Besides, as one marine put it a while ago concerning Osama bin Laden (falsely attributed to Stormin' Norman Schwartzcoff sometimes) in response to a reporter's question of whether we should just forgive bin Laden, "It's God's job to forgive bin Laden. It's our job to arrange the meeting." Not quite theologically correct, as God is not just going to forget what bin Laden did, but that marine was absolutely right on point two. It is not our country's job to forgive acts of agression against its citizens. We couldn't just forgive and forget concerning Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda -- and we can't do it with Saddam. He may be a person, but he's not much of one and he doesn't value any human life but his own. I know I won't be crying the day our military finally does the job it should have 12 years ago.
And yes, he is similar to Hitler, but fortunately his military might in contrast to that of the U.S. and Great Britain is far from Hitler's power in World War II. But, just as we were completely justified in declaring war on Hitler's Germany, we are completely justified in declaring war here on Saddam's Iraq. Peaceful solutions have been sought for a dozen years to no avail. Saddam doesn't want to be our friend; he wants to kill us! |

Yes, this man wants us all dead. So, we CANNOT leave him alone to do as he pleases. We MUST go to war.
And you overestimate Iraq's military might. You think you'll lose most of your cousins, uncles, friends, neighbors and even your own father. Wrong. No one can gaurantee no casualties, but consider this: you just listed, I believe, more people than all the Americans that died in the first Gulf War.
This will be a decisive war, won in the air and finished on the ground. It's not going to be WWII. There will not be large losses of American life. That is, as long as we act now. To wait could be deadly. |

I know as Christians we shouldn't fear death. I fear loosing someone I love. I have been through many many heart breaks already, and the thought of living through a time of war... as vicious as it may end up being with Al Qida and Iraq... terrifies me.
I know I rest in the Lord's hands, and I know my life, and the lives of my family are in His hands. He will take care of us, no matter what. I am not saying that everything will be all hunky-dory with my life when the rest of the world falls apart. I am simply stating that while the world is falling apart, we will never fall out of His hands.
I pray that my life can continue in its current course, while things go wrong I do not have to fear for my life daily. I know that around the world people are dying for the faith, and being murdered for no reason. Life is unjust, and this world is unfair.
So with impending war, I fear, I worry, I pray a lot. If I do have to live through a time of terrible suffering, war, famine, haulocaust, He is taking care of me. I home isn't here anyway. This is just a resting point, I'm a visitor here. My real home, my real life, my real glory awaits me in heaven. I guess I do hope that I don't have to leave this earth before anyone I love deeply, nor will they leave ahead of me. I've been through that, and the pain is the most horrible pain. But I sit in my Father's hands. He will carry me through whatever is tossed my way. |
