A movie with narration? That sounds somewhat strange. Also, would I brand myself hopelessly ignorant of the world around me by saying that I have no idea who Stephen Fry is?
(I do, however, know who Stephen Frey is. However, this would seem to be altogether irrelevant. As is Mr. Frey!)

Of course, the movie is less humorous than the book (simply because it's impossible to insert all of the hilarious narration of the novel into a movie - the way Adams describes the characters and the various settings is just too witty), and I cringed every time I knew something humorous was omitted. |
Indeed. I'm sure that you have the entire thing memorized...

While I will agree with the latter, I don't like the change you mentioned. Of course, I loathe romance in books, films and the like. Sure, it happens, but do I have to read about it in a novel or see it on the screen? ;)

Really? What's wrong with silly movies with aliens? ;)
Besides, it's serious science fiction -- it actually has a reason that we can read/hear all the aliens in English! And we all know that there's nothing particularly impossible (although certainly infinitely improbable, but ships are powered on this notion, I understand) therein.
Okay, well, a species of mattresses is a little strange. But other than that... |

I saw it opening night... I thought it was pretty good, though all the friends I went with didn't like it. I've never read the books, and I think having done so would increase my appreciation for the film. I was fairly well-versed in most of the main points of the movie before hand, though.
I do miss the planet sticking its tongue out that was on all the books. |
