If there's one pet peeve I have, it's rampant pessimism. Sure, every series has its ups and downs, and it's good to analyze... that's what fans are for. But it seems like every other thread, it's "AIO used to be for an older audience" or "I miss Hal Smith and David Harley."
There were some really strong characters back in the day - Jimmy Barclay, Lucy and Dale Jacobs among them. You gotta love the Gold Audio stuff with all the classics re-mastered, bonus features, etc.
Still, nostalgia run wild is all too common with "hardcore" AIO fans. I mean, criticizing the "new" (barely discernable difference) theme? There must be a medical term for that condition.
So vote away. I could check off every one of the options, except AIO and 24 (yet, as former Star Wars fan club member, I've been most disappointed with the prequel movies... and I don't have high hopes for Episode III).

| Well, I can't agree with the Star Wars one. I really like the prequels. I just watched Episode 1 the other night and while it has its shortcomings, I still think it's better than ROTJ. The podrace and Duel of the Fates are totally awesome! I don't think AOTC was quite as good but I still liked it. I can't wait for Ep. 3. I think the problem is some people try to compare it to the OT. You can't. The prequels have a totally different feel to them. The only thing that I think Lucas should have done was start TPM with Anakin as the same age as he is in AOTC. That would have given him and Padme longer to develop their relationship. And it would have made more sense when in ANH Ben says, "When I met your father, he already was a great fighter pilot". |

| The problem I have with the prequels of Star Wars is that George Lucas authorized all of the stories/backstories to be written and he goes and changes in the prequels thus upsetting a lot of the die core fans. He's focused more on the technology and less on the story, too. IMHO |

Well, let me see. I guess after Darkness Before Dawn you could say AiO wasn't as good. Star Trek after the first episode of Voyager was mostly awful, although Voy did have a few good eps every once in a while. Star Wars hit its peak at Episode 5, but 6 took a downturn, 1 was pretty bad, and 2 was a weird dual-movie where the Obi-Wan half was great and the Anakin half was awful.
Ah, well... |

You just compared the prequels to the OT!
I too have a soft spot for Episode I; Episode II devolved into a video game at the end, and (from the trailer) Episode III looks no better. I love Timothy Zahn's Star Wars books and I wish the prequels would have followed that storyline.
ROTJ speeder bike chase = still the best action scene in Star Wars.

I can't say your answer surprises me.

Actually, the quality of 1995 lasted through most of 1996. The seasons of 1997-1998 and 1998-1999 were pretty good. 99-00...no comment. Since then the show has been good, but not as much as it was.
