I think it will be interesting to see how they took the old movie and put in there idea of the Chocolate Factory.

Not that I am against this movie or anything, but it just made me think about how many remakes they make of movies nowadays. It seems like at least half the time a new movie comes out it's a remake of an older one, even if you don't realize it. Seriously--don't people have original ideas anymore?
Anyways, back to the topic on hand: The old movie was a classic, and a great one at that. It doesn't get better than...I can't believe I just forgot his name.....Brain spasm........well--whatever his name was he was perfect for the part!!! What it his name?!?!?!?!!?!? I need sleep. I am driving myself nuts trying to remember. Haha I cheated! Gotta love imdb. Gene Wilder. Yeah Baby! Anywho--Gene Wilder--He was great as the part, and although I think Johnny Depp is great too--in my book no matter how awesome he is and how great the movie it won't be able to beat out the classic. |

| There have been two or three threads on this movie, but, I'll go ahead and answe the question.......again. I think Johnny D will put his own unique spin of the character of WW, and he would be a fool to try and match or out do Gene Wilder's performance. I think the movie will either be really great or really bad. No in between. Perosnally, I think that it will be really good. Tim Burton is a talented director, and he'll give WWATCF his own unique POV. I for one am looking forward to this movie. |

This is the third thread, I think. But anyways, b/c I like the one I originally saw, I doubt I'll like the new one more.

Sorry this is the third thread on the subject.
I'm new and haven't gotten to read all the threads in this forum!
Thanks for your chat.
I think I agree with most of what you had to say.
I just hope the next movie doesn't have "Chear up Charlie". |

The song "Cheer up Charlie" that his mother sings about him.
I like musicals but the old movie had some songs to be desired.
That's my taste. |

| 'Pure Imagination' is simply pure magic. That song is the best! I hope Johnny D sings it! |

I don't remember Cheer Up Charlie. And yes, Pure Imagination is terrific.

'Cheer Up Charlie' is where Charlie comes to see his mom at her work doing laundry. |
