I'm not sure if this topic is already running somwhere, but I'll give it a try.
What do ya'll think of chivalry? I think it's a sweet gesture. Though it seems to me that is is disappearing.

Girls: Do you appreciate it when a guy opens the door and such for you?

Guys: Do you open doors and such for girls?

I'd love to hear your opinions.

I think more men should practice this. My brother usually always opens doors for me, and I appreciate the way he shows his thoughtfulness. Smile

Yeah, I genereally open doors/hold doors when applicable.

And rescue girls from evil knights and such, as I think that was the earlier form of chivalry.

Ah, I as well. It's quite a hard thing to do, you must face dragons, evil warlords, and even ungratefull females. Smile

I love it when guys open doors for me--especially car doors. But for a lot of chivarly, I think it's more the thought that counts.
One day, we were walking to lunch after church and we passed by a pipe. Not an unusual occurance in and of itself, but this time the pipe was leaking. So, the sidewalk was wet for about three feet across the concrete. Apparently, it had been leaking for a little while, because the water was green and growing things. Well, two of the guys started a conversation behind me and one of them said, "It's times like these when I wish I had a coat to put down for the girls." And the other one agreed.

I loved hearing that even more than I would have if they had done it, because it would make me feel bad for them to ruin their coats like that.

I spend too much money on coats to ruin them like that.

However, I suppose I could just hoist the female over my shoulder and carry her across...

Or if there were two of us, we could set up, one on either side of the water, and throw her. Wink

I'm all for being courteous, but I tend to think that a girl can walk over some wet concrete by herself without someone ruining their coat. Wink

I do agree with Jared on that. What I can't stand is feminist activist, who will flip out if you hold a door open for them.
