I know exactly what you should do: Weigh each option critically, pray about it, and make the decision yourself! |

Personal example: That is exactly what I want to do, and I am going to film school starting in July. |

judging from what I know of your situation, I would advise you definetly go to college. I'm guessing to get into the movie industry, you're going to need more education to even be considered. And aparently you have a pretty good idea that that is what you want to be doing..So I'd say go for it. If you work for two years, you probably wouldn't get ahead financially enough to make it worth staying back.
This, however, does not apply if you don't know what you want to do for the rest of your life, or if you are going into a field that doesn't require as much training. |

| The only way one can really get into the film industry without training is if, like Peter Jackson, you can build up experience with few resources, get your stuff shown at film festivals to get your name out there, and eventually get some of your stuff bought by a studio. However, this takes a lot of money, and not too many people are successful when pursuing this course. |

| You should probably go straight to college. Working for a few years might be nice but you'll find it harder and harder to get yourself enrolled somewhere. I've seen few people successfully pull this off. I took time off from school to start my business and I have yet to go back. |

I think, as someone who just started college literally 2 mo. after graduation, I think going to school right away helps because you allready have the mind-set of going to school and what's expected. Do you know what I'm saying? I mean I found it just plain easier. I don't work now, and honestly I don't want to because I'm working on school work and graduating, but my parents want me to have a job since when I turn 21 (I'm 18 now-19 in June) I will have to pay for my own insurances and more than likely my own rent since my sister will be attending a college that costs more than mine. She's the spoiled one, and so sadly, they would put that on my shoulders. AND since I'll be 21, the state won't cover me anymore, because then I won't be a ward of the state then either. I'll be discharged. Maybe I'll get my 'real parents' to pay for my schooling! Sadly, I shouldn't even do that. Maybe I should get a job What do you think? |
