That is something I like about him too (although I'll be clear; I don't agree with everything that he does). It concerns me that a more liberal pope could wind up in power after JP2 dies.

How so ? |
If a liberal pope comes to power, there are issues that the Catholic church would one day have to face, most likely in the same manner as the Episcopalian and ELCA churches.

How so ? |
If a liberal pope comes to power, there are issues that the Catholic church would one day have to face, most likely in the same manner as the Episcopalian and ELCA churches.

But the "majority of people" who are "Catholic" wouldn't mind a liberal pope, and it would separate the church from those who are liberal, and the more conservative branch would then come face to face with the faults of having a pope possibly reforming that church and setting it aright. |

That in itself is a problem. I also didn't realize most catholics were liberal.

I see, so it would seperate the good from the bad. But this could still be a problem since the 'bad side' would have the papacy on its side.
