e.g.
Q: Why do so many Polish names end in "ski"?
A: Because they cannot spell "toboggan".
Sorry Jared, thats the only one I can think of.
You can edit/delete it if you want to |

Oh, that joke is KIND compared to some...
Remember, most Polish jokes seem to realize that Polish sort of (not really) rhymes with foolish. The basic premise of any Polish joke is that "Polaks" are incredibly stupid and/or incompetant. For example:
Two Polish hunters were driving through the country to go bear
hunting. They came upon a fork in the road where a sign read "BEAR
LEFT." So they went home.
...AND...
An American is walking down the street when he sees a Polak
with a very long pole and a yardstick. He's standing the pole on its
end and trying to reach the top of it with his yardstick. Seeing the Polak's ignorance, the American wrenches the pole out of his hand, lays it on the sidewalk, measures it with the yardstick, and says, "There! 10 feet long." The Polak grabs the yardstick and shouts, "You idiot American! I don't care how long it is! I want to know how high it is!"
Then of course there are the Q&A jokes. Like:
Q: How can you tell which person is the groom at a Polish wedding?
A: He's the one wearing the CLEAN bowling shirt.
...AND...
Q:Why does the new Polish navy have glass bottoms to its boats?
A: So they can see the old Polish navy.
...AND... [on the same line as the last]
Q: How do you sink a Polish battleship?
A: Put it in the water.
There are many more strange Polish jokes out there, of course, but I'll quit now. My point (yes, this kind of had a point): silly jokes like that ARE NOT OFFENSIVE! My dad's side of the family is Polish... and I have no problem whatsoever with Polish jokes. Why should I? |

Oh, I know. My father is Irish, and he loves telling Polish/type jokes.
However, my mother is all Polish, so eventually she just couldn`t take it any longer and asked him to stop......sometimes people are overly sensitive, but other times, I suppose, they just grow tired of it.
Although, I did not think anyone here was excessively picking on any one person/nationality. And last, but not least, if there is anyone recieving the most(national) jokes like these, it is not the Irish, nor the Polish-it is the French.
Rightly so? In some cases...but a few of the French jokes can be a bit brutal. |

You can arrest me? Uh, don't think that you can make political arrests. This is a free country, uh, town, uh, board!
And I haven't broken any laws!
And perhaps, just perhaps, I could pardon myself?
Or maybe Xhan could give me an additional appointment. I could be not only the mayor of Odyssey but the ambassador of Xhan to Odyssey, which would give me diplomatic immunity... |
