I want to see Get Smart, but I always seem to be doing other things whenever it's on TV Land...

Monk is another American series that has caught my interest (not many American shows do...), but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I'm a diagnosed obsessive compulsive myself so it caught my eye.

Compared to a few years back, I guess I could be called a TV junkie, as I now watch several programs!

Like others here, I enjoy Get Smart and Hogan's Heroes, although I don't watch the former any more as I've seen every episode and don't view the latter because it's not airing on any station I get at this time.

I also watch three current TV shows: JAG, Monk and Enterprise. As several have already said, Monk is a really good show. Often hilarious. It's part-detective adventure, large part comedy, and every once in a while, they get lazy and come up with an incredibly meaningless or absurd plot in favor of just having good lines, but for the most part, it's well-written and quite original.

To Coralfish, since she watches the program: did you happen to view the episode last season featuring the law students? The episode overall was quite sub-par, as I recall, and didn't feature much of a mystery, but the scene with the law students studying to pass the Nicaraguan (I think) bar exam and conversing in hushed tones about the rooms upstairs having "lots of books" alone made the episode worth viewing, in my opinion. And, considering your chosen course of studies, I wondered if you have seen it...

"Enterprise" is probably the strangest choice on my list, as I normally strongly dislike science fiction and the show is, in fact, one of the many Star Trek series, but from what I've seen of the show (the second half of season three), it's really quite good, and offers a lot of semi-obscured commentary (not all of which I agree with, of course) on current events. In what I saw of season three, there's basically a war against terrorism going on, except that the terrorists happen to be from an alien world. Odd? Bizarre? Not what I'd normally watch? Yes to all three. But as I said, it's good.

My favorite shows would be:

1. Alias
2. Smallville
3. Survivor
4. 24
5. Simpsons

The first 4 I make it a point to watch every single episode the moment it airs. For me, Alias has only gotten better with age even though some other fans wouldn't agree with me. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Clark Kent, though Smallville has suffered from very sloppy writing the past couple of years, bad acting, dumb storylines and not much story progression. But I still look forward to it. Survivor is just great, and 24 had an amazing season 2, with a subpar beginning to season 3 with a great last half. The Simpsons, I just happen to watch if I get a chance... love it when I do, but don't go out of my way to see it.

Alas, I am afraid I have not seen that episode, though, admittedly reading about the plot has now piqued my interest somewhat. Wink I have seen "most" of the episodes though, (including one that took place in or around a library) and agree that there is usually something in the show making it worthy of watching even if the episode itself happens to be rather plotless. Tony Shalub seems perfectly fit for the role though, and I am usually laughing at one or many of his odd antics. At this point, its really the only current show that I watch. I held out initial hope for the series West Wing, but it was a grave disappointment.

Sets:

-The Prisoner Mega-Set (the whole series on 10 DVDs, with extras)

-Captain Scarlet (complete series, 4 DVDs)

-Cadfael Seasons 2, 3, and 4 boxsets. (the DVD boxset for Season 1 has been out of print for a long time... it has just been released, but I haven't gotten it yet)

Individual TV DVDs:

Doctor Who - The Ark in Space
Doctor Who - The Aztecs
ReBoot - To Mend and Defend (first volume of S3)

Um, I think I have more than that, but my brain's blanking...

Wish list:
Gargoyles Season 1 (coming to DVD in December), Cadfael Season 1, the other four ReBoot DVDs, Doctor Who - The Dalek Invasion of Earth, Danger Man and The Avengers.

Shows I wish would be released but aren't:

ReBoot seasons 1 and 2
Animaniacs
(What's this with me and parody/spoofing shows...?)
