|
For those of you that watch more than five, at least... ;)
Bit of a warning here: I have a terrible habit of watching television that is either 1) foreign 2) obscure or 3) was produced 10-20 years before I was born (that would be 1982, by the way). So don't worry if you don't recognize some things...
1. Doctor Who: British sci-fi/fantasy series (1963 - 1989).
--Has always been and always will be my number one favorite. I was all but raised on this series. Also have a disturbingly large collection of Doctor Who books, DVDs, VHS, comics, CDs etc. And it's still being added to...
2. ReBoot: Canadian CGI sci-fi/tech series (1994-2001)
--Ah, what a wonderful series! No one can spoof/parody like the ReBoot writers can. And I'm one of those sad, sad people that can catch all the British television and cult film references. *ahem*
3. The Prisoner: British spy/espionage/surrealistic weirdness series (circa 1968)
--The most intelligent television show ever made. Period. Soon to be on BBC America... check it out.
4. Cadfael: Mystery series set in a 12th century monastery (1995-2000)
--One of my favorite things in the world is the classical murder mystery. And I'm also a history buff. And Derek Jacobi's the greatest actor on the planet...
5. Gargoyles: Animated fantasy series (1994ish)
--Ah, Disney's only decent animated television series. Being into mythology and the like, all the references to Greco-Roman/Norse/Egyptian mythology, Arthurian legend and Shakspeare add an extra dimension for me.

There are lots more that I can't think of at the moment. |

1. Star Trek Voyager
Umm... yeah, that's about it. I have gotten a couple Doctor Who videos from the library, along with some episodes from The Flying Circus (Monty Python), but the latter was a bit obscene for my taste. |

Okay, this is kind of tough... I don't watch a whole lot of TV, but, there are certain shows I do like pretty well when I get the chance to see them... so, not totally in order, here is (maybe) the top five...
WWE Raw
Get Smart
The Dick Van Dyke Show
MXC (formerly Most Extreme Elimination Challenge)
The O'Reilly Factor!
Plus I frequently watch Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien late at night...
Props to you who mentioned I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver... those are some good things, too... |

(we don't have cable so I dont' watch much TV, or get many channels)
The Simpsons
always something funny in every ep. One of the great things about it, is that it shows that its OK to be smart and read lots becase then you'll get more of the jokes.
The Magic School Bus
I don't watch it any more but I'm sure it is the best educational TV show for kids out there. Everthing I needed to learn about science I learned from this show. I had over 30 of the TV Tie-in books, and was part of the official science club.
Shiningtime Station
I haven't seen this since I was about 6 but it was a total favorite back then.
The Cosby Show
I'll watch a couple of re-runs of this during summer holidays at my Grandparent's house (who have cable). Its not always that funny, but it has its moments.
Bill Nye the Science Guy
This is another show I used to watch. It and MSB and Shiningtime station, were all taped for us when we were young.
as you can see there aren't many shows that I like to watch now. This presents a problem when I'm trying to find a show to watch at my grandparents house, and I just have to count down the hours until primetime begins.
I should also mention a wonderful show called "Once upon a hamster". It had live animals in it who lived in little houses made out of shoes, and there was a guinnie pig who invented stuff, and they went of rafts down the river and...well...it was awsome. |
