Okay, from my limited knowledge and view of Mrs. Olsen, she is one of my favourites. Cause, she does such a good job at acting. She most likely has the hardest character to act and she does it amazingly from the clips I've seen. But that is just my humble opinion and I am far from a die hard fan - so you can disagree and all Very Happy

For me I personally can't stand
1) people cry all the time
2) some of the plots seem rather far-fetched
3) they're way too serious

We used to watch that show all the time. I definatly agree with those three points. Some episodes are especially bad, such as the one where a kid is smoking in the basement of a house and accidently burns it down (with a Laura's sister's baby and a maid inside!)
Then as the show went on it began to get just plain silly, such as the ep where Mrs. Ingles leaves the family (with young kids still at home) so she can be a feminest.
Has anyone seen the ep when Nelli is all grown up, so the Olsen's adopt another girl who's even worse then her?

Ok... I love Little House on the Prairie!
Sure, it doesn't follow the books exactly, but at least it's the rare "quality" kind of tv.
For Itaque: Most of the shows are a spin-off of the books (i.e. a chapter in the book is on Nellie vs. Mary/Laura having parties (Town Party, Country Party) but the show uses that subject but revolves it around a little ignored girl with a limp.) Like always, there are things that happen in the series that never happened in the books.

I've got the first four seasons on DVD. For me, I start losing interest in the later series (around the last two seasons when they changed the title), because I don't like to see everybody growing up, and all those changes happen. I never want to see the very last episode, because they blow up the entire town of Walnut Grove. Shock

"The Reincarnation of Nellie". That is a hilarious episode. The Olesons (especially Mrs.) have that comic relief needed. IMO, Nancy was so much meaner (and better for the show) than Nellie ever was.

Apparently (though I never saw it) the final show was simply dreadful. I heard that they find out that the town is owned by some bussines man from the city, so they all burn their homes to the ground and move, since they'd rather find a new home then be owned by the bussines man, and Pa says some silly line like "There comes a time when you just gotta move on in life" and they all ride away in their wagon.

I hate endings like that. Fiddler on the roof had an ending like that.

I heard that they ended it with the town burning down because that way there would be no question about whether or not they would do more episodes. No town=no more shows. It's that simple. I'm not sure if this is accurate or just the product of someone's imagination, though. Does anyone know?
