To Nathen Hoobler, (or Shadowpaw):
Do the writers of the Novacom saga know what is going to happen to Eugene or what is happening know, or are they just making it up as they go along. For instance, did Eugene's lines on the answereing machine really have to do with the story or were they just the only things that could be made with the material from past episodes?

Well it's hard to say the writers have planned anything for Eugene, as it's still uncertain Eugene will ever return. I believe that there is a vague idea for what to do with Eugene if he were to return to the show, and it's not like he'll return and everything is normal and the end of "Exit" was just a red herring. Sorta like the whole Novacom saga, where they knew where they were taking the show... and all the key moments, but filled in the rest as they went along.

Also, I know Nathan spent a long period of time putting together clips of Eugene (and has countless versions of the final one you hear on Exit), but I think it was always the intent that Eugene IS in some sort of trouble, or fears he may be in some sort of trouble and Nathan picked clips that brought that across. Hope that helps! Nathan... if there's anything you'd like to add, feel free :)

That's a good way of putting it. The answer... yes.

how do you know? anywayjared, why would they have a beeping noise if it didn't mean anything? anyway, i have listened to odyssey for 4 years and almost always did they have everything in the episode for a reason?

Pianokitty,

You addressed your first question to Shadowpaw, but being the annoying, cutting-in person that I am, I'll answer that: he did some intern work for Focus over the summer! [Yes, we're all jealous.]

And, what several of us are saying is that the Eugene audio used in that episode was cut and pasted from a previous episode. Perhaps the beeping was needed in that episode and they didn't have an audio-only track available. Or something. Off-hand, I can't think of the scene in the recent episode that is being mentioned.

Jared's right... I did do some intern work for Odyssey during the end of Summer / beginning of Fall. Now, if I remember correctly, almost all (if not all) of the clips used in the Eugene scene at the end can not be found in any other episodes. The lines themselves can be found, but Nathan used alternate takes from Will Ryan so they all sounded somewhat fresh. Because of that, I'm pretty sure the SOS sound in the background was added for effect... and not because there was a beep in one of Will Ryan's takes (since they had never gone through post production). But Nathan's the man with all the answers regarding this topic, since it was his doing

So I suppose the bottom line is that whatever was in the scene is in there for a specific reason....for possible use in future episodes?(and mabe give a possible theme if Eugene returns to the show)?
