Ladies and gentlemen of the Town Hall:

The votes have been counted by E87M2, and it appears this forum shall soon be closed. It was an exciting election, I hope, for everyone. I would like to especially recognize -Mellow boy and Thorin Oakenshield, two fine Town Hall'ers and worthy opponents. Also worthy of recognition are their excellent campaign managers, turtle_dove and Elf of Rivendell.

Furthermore, I would like all of my supporters, including those who originally supported Thorin. The only one I will thank individually is my campaign manager: Rosie, you were an excellent supporter. Thank you for your help, especially with coming up with my pillars. (But I must ask, where have you been the past couple weeks??) I DO want to thank you all personally, but that would require a lot of searching to see who supported me, and I am in actuality quite lazy.

Now, as mayor, I make a proposal to the good citizens of the Town Hall. With the Town of Odyssey gone, I suggest the Town Hall add a News and Politics 101 (or something similar) forum. In addition, or perhaps instead, we can add a theology and/or debate forum for deeper Christian thinkers. A third option would be to add a general Worldview (Worldview 101? Sorry, I like that 101 idea... Razz

) forum, as E87M2 suggested, that would encompass current events, politics, theology, debates, and "other relevant topics." My recommendation would be that last idea.

Paraphrasing Jared, this will keep all the serious stuff out of the off-topic stuff, thus making it easier for someone who wants to read about ice cubes and alcohol to not have to wade through stuff about equal protection laws, elections, redistricting, debates, etc. (That's a good reason.)

If anyone has other suggestions regarding the new forum, please post them here. The final decision will be up to the Administrators, as they are the only ones with the ability to add the forum. Roll Eyes

Finally, a humble request to the Administrators. Once the Town of Odyssey is closed and archived, I will no longer be mayor. (At least not of an active city.) Although my platform WAS to close the Town of Odyssey, it still kind of stinks not to have some sort of position. If the new forum gets created, would it be possible for me to have even a low-level, temporary position in it? Please? Wink

Once again, I thank everyone here at the Town Hall for this enjoyable final election.

I think that the debate idea is a good one. Even though i hate going against my peers and feeling like i am "arguing". Crying or Very sad

But i'll just remind myself it is JUST a debate! Smile

Well, i think that is all for now. I think we should have elections for like secretaries and stuff like that... Rolling Eyes

Yep. I have returned. I did pop in to vote for you in a computer lab at my brothers campus in texas, though... anyway, you're very welcome. It has been an honor to work for such a worthy cause.
