Well, Arthur and Mellow garnered an equal number of votes, so here we are to settle the race! This is a two-part vote. Part one, using the poll above, vote for the candidate of your choice.

Part two, please post to state whether you are for or against the abolition of this board.

For the record, I cast my vote for Arthur Dent and for the abolition of this board.

This is the third or fourth time I've seen Mellow or Ferder shoot up five or more votes within a very brief period. I was thinking about how strange it was that Mellow gets such quick headstarts and decided to do some investigation.

It turns out that according to IP records, Mellow and Ferder have a combined EIGHT accounts here.

Now, they told me a long time ago that they both forgot their passwords on their original accounts and asked for permission to create new accounts but leave their old ones up so that posts from them wouldn't be deleted. I consented on that matter, but never thought to lock out the old accounts. I have no way of knowing whether or not they actually have access to those accounts.

Furthermore, at the time, I didn't stop to see if they had other active accounts. They do. A quick records scan shows two Ferders, four Mellows and two other accounts of other names that trace back to the same IP.

Now, perhaps this is all due to some signup mishaps, lost passwords, etc. That happens. But in the interest of fairness, I'm going to do something that's going to make everyone VERY angry. I'm nullifying the previous results and removing the poll. To vote, you must do so PUBLICLY. (You aren't embarrassed of your opinion anyway, are you? Wink

)

Voting will be extended so that it runs from now until Tuesday at about 2 PM Eastern Time.

Vote by posting in this thread with your decision as to whether the Town of Odyssey board should live or die AND your choice of candidates (the only two choices being Mellow and Arthur, as this is a runoff election), regardless of how you voted on the prior question.

By doing it in this manner, I can verify that each and every vote is real and should be counted.

A note to those who have siblings on the board: I understand and will account for that. Just because two IPs match is not alone cause for concern. I will be able to differentiate.

So, sorry for the delay, the annoyance and all that. But in the interest of justice and of removing any hint of possible fraud (whether I think there was fraudulent voting here or not is not the point -- that the way voting was held created an image of fraud that could further sow discord on the board is), it had to be done.

2. I vote for Arthur Dent for mayor. No... you think? Wink

(BTW, Jared, I think a public ballot is a good idea; I also wondered about the possibility of multiple accounts.)

Jared I must say now, honestly, that myself or Mellow have never used our old accounts! They are there, as you say, because of old mix-ups and lost passwords.
BTW I assume that one of the accounts you found was called "Banana". That is our sister, who really did sign up herself. So that accounts for our first 3 votes. (Mellow, Banana, myslef). I'm not sure where all the other 2 votes came from.

Jared I think since you investigation into Ferder and I, it would fair if you also investigated Dent, Thorin, and Robin or anyone else involved in the elections.

(I also vote for removing the word filter on AIO Digital.)

Also, to save you some time: I have only one account here, mine. Smile

I do sometimes post on other PCs, sometimes on Johnnyboy's PC (and sometimes he posts on mine.)
I also have no siblings or friends signed up for the sole purpose of voting. (Actually I have no siblings signed up period.)
