He's mellow. No, really, I think he's a cool guy, and probably would make a fine mayor.

Once the ToO is closed, I suppose I'll be the former mayor.

If I could, I would replace it with a Politics 101 forum. In my opinion, that would be the most suitable replacement. However, I doubt most Town Hall'ers like that idea, and I would take in suggestions as for the replacement and get a vote on the most liked idea. |

Politics 101 Heav'n forbid!
I admire Dent for getting so many supporters
oh one thing. Everybody keeps saying that this board is slow, boring, and never used, but at the moment it's been the most used, most interesting place on the TH. |

Only because of the elections. But then, really, what point do the elections have?
"Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers....But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness." II Timothy 2:14 & 16
A forum like Politics 101 would be better than the ToO, IMO. |

I, for one, would welcome a political forum here. It would serve a few purposes:
1. It will keep all the political stuff out of the off-topic stuff, thus making it easier for someone who wants to read about ice cubes to not have to wade through stuff about equal protection laws, elections, redistricting, debates, etc.
2. It would be better than a Politics 101 thread, as the thread itself had the problem of becoming far too eclectic if it was proceeded with on a more regular basis. Numerous threads in a political board, however, could properly split up the discussion.
3. It would be a catalyst for more - and in my opinion, more interesting - discussion, as I've found that around here, if there's a place for it, discussion just naturally arises. And we do want to get back over the one hundred posts a day threshold, don't we?
Arthur, if you are elected mayor, I would encourage you to make take this issue to the people. I doubt we'll take a vote -- too many of those already -- but perhaps you could use your bully pulpit to sway the fickle public? |

I for one would concurr with any movement to convert the Town of Odyssey to a political forum of sorts. Perhaps broadening such a forum to include world news as well might prove interesting.
Anyways, I am completely in favor of such a change. |

| Narrowing it strictly to "Politics 101" might prove an even slower board than what we have experienced here in ToO. We would need to replace it with something that would spark interest and produce worthy topics. I am in favor of something like a worldview (Christian, of course) forum which would include views on politics, world news, and other relevant topics. |

Yeah, I was thinking something along the lines of News and Politics or something like that. I'd certainly be open to suggestions.
And of course, as the man behind the idea, perhaps Arthur Dent has some brilliant ideas about it. |
