I'm wondering when the elections will be held. Does anyone know? |

They will be held at the boards over the two day period of July 15 and 16.
As many have asked this question, I am "sticking" this post so that others can easily see it. |

We only have a few weeks, people! Where's the campaigning? Where are the debates?
Let's get moving!

| Does anybody like the idea of having a public debate...say, in the chat room? Although it might be hard to set a date for most people to be available, I think it would be interesting to have the "public" ask questions about the issues and hear a live response, IMO. What do you think? |

I am all for that, although I am afraid that issues of time and date would make it difficult. Due to the ages of many people on this board, we don't write our own datebook. Sure, some night may seem open, but if something comes up, we can hardly say "No, I have a debate to attend."
While it would lose the instant response, I suggest that the debate be held on the boards over a period of several days (meaning that we should start soon).
All Town Hall users could submit questions for the debate, but in the interest of keeping the debate on track, they would, perhaps, be sent to a debate moderator, who would in turn choose the best (or, if questions are limited, nearly all) questions and ask them to the candidates. All would then be given a chance to answer.
I nominate Coralfish as debate moderator, as, despite her unfortunate and quite regrettable decision to support that most unscrupulous of foes, Hawkeye, I believe she would be singularly suited for the task at hand and could present the questions very fairly and keep the debate generally on course.
So, I ask of the other candidates: would you agree to a debate? And would you agree to Coralfish as debate moderator?
And, finally, to Coralfish: now that I've submitted your name, it might be a good idea to see if you'd be interested in the job and available to fulfill the duties. Well?
I would urge all candidates to contact respond here as soon as possible in order to let me know their intentions regarding the debate. |

| Jared, I agree with you completely that Coralfish IS singularly suited to your task. However, she is not going to be around much for the next TWO weeks, making it nearly impossible for her to be of any service. I am posting this so you can think up an alternate plan as the elections will soon be upon us. |

I am most honored at this nomination yet have been, as Josiah mentioned, rather busy. However, if it is in the interest of the rest of those involved, I will be able to find what I hope to be a reasonable time in which to moderate the said debates. If this proves to be a problem, or if you need someone who must be present every day, then I would heartily reccomend Josiah to take this position instead. Hopefully it will work, and I will attempt to find, as said, a reasonable amount of time in which to assist.
Thank you. |

| I, Hawkeye, Mayorial Candidate Of Odyssey, Q2, 2003, AD, do hereby accept the debate, and I also accept Coralfish to be the debate moderator, if she is available, otherwise, I also accept Josiah as the debate moderator, if he is available. |
