Nightmares. Yuck. I think I'm like Jack from Odyssey sometimes. Nightmares can be effects of spritual attacks. They aren't pretty. Thats something I have had to deal with... ug.
rosie~ I take it that the nightmares and stuff stopped after you become a Christian? Praise God!
Our old house had a lot of spiritual oppression about it. My baby sister had nightmare. Physical illnesses and Satan's lies abounded in that house. You can feel so helpless during spiritual warfare. Its so easy to forget in times like that, that prayer and scripture are our most powerful weapons. I think thats the way the enemy wants it though, to make us forget about our ways of fighting back. Man, this thread is making me depressed...
But God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. |

I've been a free woman for four days! I was under a really heavy spiritual attack that lasted for almost nine months, but it finally broke wednesday night. I was having paranoid panic attacks on a 3+ times a day basis (You guys thought I was joking about being paranoid, but I wasn't). My sleep was often interrupted by nightmares about my IP address being recorded and the government etc. reading my emails. They probably DO do that, but most people don't have nightmares about that. I kept dreaming that a sattelite was recording my every movement on tape, and the most bizarre one was where I pulled this camera from my ceiling and began beating it with a baseball bat. I couldn't figure out why I was so scared, and the less I went to church the more paranoid and freaked out I got.
My prayer group prayed over me a few days ago, and I walked out of the room after it was over and started talking to God. It was so nice to be able to talk to him again. I had all these other thoughts and worries crowding my mind, and when I tried to talk and listen to Him, it was like "What? What did you say? I can't hear you."
I'm now talking to Him all the time, and I can read my Bible without getting distracted. It's really nice! I also hear the Holy Spirit telling me to pray for people. One thing I learned in the book was that if you pray for someone, an angel is sent out to protect them from demonic attacks. Very interesting. |

EDIT: Hawkeye contacted me via instant messenger about this... I should clarify. The Mormons no longer practice polygamy, nor have they done so for a long time as a religious body. A few offshoots of the Latter Day Saints still do practice polygamy (individual members of these groups do not let this be publicly known about THEM, though, as it IS illegal), but the LDS governing body denounced the practice about a century ago. | Well, thats because they were not allowed to achieve statehood as long as the practice of polygamy was officially condoned. |

I never knew the Mormons achieved statehood... :)
Yes, I knew what you meant. Of course, the LDS Church didn't officially ban the practice until well after statehood, as the state did NOT vigorously enforce the laws in the earlier years.
As a general reminder that has nothing to do really with the topic at hand but everything to do with the fact that you should never trust a reporter to get the facts straight: the other day I was reading an article about drug use in NYC and the article talked about a young man on LDS. Changing the order of letters can make a world of difference... I doubt he was on Latter Day Saints... |

Yep It was rather cool. Almost immediately I started being less frightened.... but I still haven't totally gotten over it. |
