| I'm reading this awesome (but slightly graphic) book called the Veritas Conflict about Spiritual warfare. I'd never really though about the fact that when you pray protection of someone, an angel physically guards them. The book has two points of view: the regular, human POV and the spiritual. It focuses mainly on two or three angels, each taking care of a specific person or place. It shows how the demons and angels fight when someone struggles to make the right decision, and how demons try to make things difficult. I'd never thought about how when God wants something to work for you, he has his angels set the stage for him. I was reading one part where the main character (A girl at Harvard) needed to get into a certain class, so one angel was keeping this boy from getting the last spot for the class while the other was trying to hurry Claire along. The angel made the boy's backpack spill out, made him lose his bike lock, etc. And one of the angels made Claire sing badly when she wasn't supposed to get into Chorus. It was just interesting to think about... |

| You'd prolly like Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness"... along those same lines. |

Yes. Spiritual Warfare is an interesting issue that we too easily ingore unless we are under attack. But it is as real as you and I. It is also intersting how Spiritual events manafest themselves in the physical world.
Also, being the subject of a spiritual attack is physically exhausting. I was under constant attack at my previous job, and after months of it, I was about to collapse or trade in what was right. But thankfully GOd helped me know what was going on and had people praying for me and opened the door to get a better job.
But it is certainly something that hold intrigue and mystery, as long as your not under it. But if you focus on God, you come out stronger. |

Spiritual warefare, sadly something I am very familiar with. I won't say much now, as I need to be heading to bed, but I wanted to say something. I agree with Hawkeye's post. Spritual warefare is very real, and is constantly happening. We so often forget that. Sometimes it can be so easy to forget what we cannot readily see.
Also, Rachael, if you really are enjoying this book, you will also enjoy the Perretti books that top mentioned. Also the book God and War, by Rick Boyd, i think it is (I'll check tomorrow) is very good. You might also enjoy some of the books by Bill Myers. He writes a children/youth series called The forbidden doors, which deals with issues of spiritual warefare as well. |

Interesting topic. One I'd never given a whole lot of thought to until my dad let my brother and I read Frank Peretti's books a while ago. We were both like, "Wow! That stuff really happens!!!"
I'd like to read that book you're reading, Rachael. I've heard of it before, but never seriously looked into reading it...sounds very enlightening.
And I agree with hawkeye about spiritual warfare being oppressing. I've been through something recently that I can only sum up as being spiritual attack...it's not pretty! There aren't even words to describe how I felt during the times I was under attack. Only that it was marked by a nightmare-ish feeling of being trapped and deep depression during/afterwards. Maybe sometime I'll get on and explain more, as such a cryptic post probably leaves you wondering about my sanity. At any rate, I could share a story a lady from our church once told about an experience she had. |

Good question. Of course, the fact that he already has a wife would require a move to Utah, but no big deal, right? |

And a conversion to the Church of the Latter Day Saints and some various violations of federal law... :)
EDIT: Hawkeye contacted me via instant messenger about this... I should clarify. The Mormons no longer practice polygamy, nor have they done so for a long time as a religious body. A few offshoots of the Latter Day Saints still do practice polygamy (individual members of these groups do not let this be publicly known about THEM, though, as it IS illegal), but the LDS governing body denounced the practice about a century ago. |

Before I was a Christian I had nightmares, depression, and fear. Sometimes I heard noises... I think it might have been some kind of spiritual attack, especially the nightmares. |
