oohh, do I sense a fight coming on????
I hope not, just ignore our imposterish president, I think a girl VP would rock. As long as she isn't some extreme liberal pro-abortionist, who is against everything Christians believe.... but I don' think that bush would run with someone like that. |

I'm probably going to get into huge trouble here, but I'd prefer not to have female presidents and vice presidents. Women in the House and Senate is one thing, but despite the fact that a woman might do very well in most presidential or vice presidential functions, the president is commander-in-chief and I'm not sure that a woman is well-suited for that job.
And remember, the vice president is in line for the position and is a likely candidate for it after the current president's years of service (if two terms are served) run out.
Some of you will be angry at me, but I just don't like the idea. |

Well, I already have one person mad at me... And there will be more, I know...
Madison, I'm just not convinced that a woman is suited for the position of president of the United States and by extension, vice president, due to the closeness of the office and the likliness of succession.
There ARE differences between men and women. I hope that isn't in question here. I simply believe that the roles and duties of the presidency are better fulfilled by a man.
Look at the polls. Women are almost always less supportive of any given war by 15-25 percentage points. Furthermore, even if they support the war, they are generally more frightened by it and concerned about it than are men. Is it not just, then, to conclude that a woman would be less likely to be able to send men into battle if the cause was just?
From a conservative point of view, I can also note that on domestic issues, women are far more likely to support government programs, something I detest. Women overwhelmingly want to throw MORE money at the education system, which already gets far too much and turns out far too little in quality, by large margins want a complete federal health care system, etc. It seems to me that they are more likely to look at the intended result (who DOESN'T want everyone to have health insurance?) without looking at the downsides and potential consequences.
Also, I guess I'm still uncomfortable with it because of the "head of household" issue. The Bible makes it clear that the man is the head of the house. I don't think that this at all keeps a woman from seeking political office, but I feel uncomfortable with the idea of a man sitting around the White House greeting guests while his wife runs the country. |

You made it sound like a crazy drunk man off of the streets of L.A. would (with no political experince)be better than a female president or vice president
P.S. women can do just as good as a male president, but they hafe to be given a chance, but most of the men (that vote) are uncomfortable with having a women run the country because they are used to being incharge. And Jared you maybe wronge about what a girl president would do if she was elected into office. I just hope that some day there will be a female president |

IL_Queen: I have stated my views before, and a people have gotten a few people mad at me, but I still stand by my position. Firstly, Yes. Women can do just as well of a job as men. Perhapse some women would be as Jared described, perhapse not. But that isnt the issue. 1 Timothy 2-3 says Women should submit to authority, and men should be leaders of the church, family, etc. Also, Ephesians5:22,24 Colosians 3:18 both tell wives to submit to their husbands. ! Timmothy also says a woman should not be in authority over men. Lastly, the big picture (Christ and His bride) has Chirst, not us (bride) in authority. when we (the bride) try to take authority of our lives, we deiate from His plan.
So, I see no problem with women in senate, congress, etc, as they are not in authority over men, and they still submit to their husbands, if they have one. However, I cannot agree with a woman president from a Biblical perspective. Eve was made from Adam's rib because she was under Adam's authority, but equal, and close to Adam's heart, and of Adam. This is not the description of Adam's leader, but helper. It is simple fact Women are more oriented on caretaking whereas men are more oriented toward defending/providing. This also does not support the idea of a women leading, but helping. It is also where Jared was comming from. |

Madison,
Simply because the Word of God says so. Hawkeye listed several verses on the subject above.
(And ignore Top. In case you hadn't noticed, his points are hardly coherent. ) |

I think I am going to have to agree with those who have already mentioned that having a woman as a President is not a particularaly good idea. I really do not have a lot of time to give an explanation right now, but essentially it is for the reasons listed above as well as the fact that women(and yes I will probably be yelled at for this, but it is in many cases true) are more apt to look at the emotional side of a situation rather than the logical. This is not to say that women are irrational, but merely that they will often empathize with a situation thus affecting their judgement whether for a good or a not so good reason. If you apply this tenency to the office of President, it doesn't look too good. Sometimes, especially in cases of national crisis, decisions need to be made without emotion becoming a factor.
In addtion to the above, the women political candidates seem to have extrememly Democratic(if not Liberal) tenencies. Examples: Barbera Boxer, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstien and the list goes on. I could go furthur and give reasons why I believe women in politics are so apt to align themselves with the Left, but lacking both time and typing skills, I shall not.
Lastly, there are Biblical reasons that clearly show why this should not be and several are listed above. Hopefully this is somewhat understandable, and that I have not infuriorated all of you ..anyhow that is all for now. |
