| While some members of this board openly object to this type of thread, I feel it my duty as a member of the TH to notify you of my upcoming absence. I shall be leaving tomorrow for approximately two weeks. I may be around, not this weekend, but the one following, before taking off for another week. I'm going to be camping, going to a conference, etc. Don't have too much fun without me. |

its not your duty to have to say if you're going for a little while. I know it seems like this is a costumary thing for people to do, but its only because everybody is copying everybody else. No one is going to say to themselves "where is so-and-so? They've left the TH! What if they never come back"
If we did realize somone was gone, we'd think "well its summer, so I gues the person is on holidays, or camp, or just outside enjoying the nice weather".
When I was an early member on this board, I sometimes had the urge to post "I'm back!" topics when I had been gone away for a long time. Then I realized that if I just post people can obvioulsy see that I am back.
I know this is rude and yadda yadda yadda for me to be posting this stuff, but its been getting on my nerves for some time now, and I think it should be nipped in the bud.
I'm done now :wink:
