I'd have to agree with that, if we were talking about fav Beatles songs. Although my favorite song (right now) is probably The Word by Sara Groves.

Little Girl: John Michael Montgomery

Her parents never took the young girl to church,
Never spoke of His name,
Never read her His word.
Two non-believers walking lost in this world,
Took their baby with them,
What a sad little girl.

Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs.
Never wanted to play,
Or give kisses and hugs.
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch,
While her mom fell asleep,
And her daddy went out.

And the drinking and the fighting,
Just got worse every night.
Behind their couch, she'd be hiding:
Oh, what a sad little life.

And like it always does, the bad just got worse,
With every slap,
And every curse.
Until her daddy, in a drunk rage one night,
Used a gun on her mom,
And then took his life.

And some people from the city,
Took the girl far away.
To a new mom and dad:
Kisses and hugs everyday.

Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in,
And a small little girl,
Stared a picture of Him.
She said I know that man up there on that cross,
I don't know His name,
But I know He got off.

'Cause he was there in my old house
And held me close to His side.
As I hid there, behind our couch,
The night that my parents died.

Never heard it. I only care for them in the early sixties. After that they were just hippies.

Hey! What's wrong with hippies? I'm a hippy at heart...

I love "The Little Girl" song too...
Here is Every Light in the House Is On --- Trace Adkins

I told you I'd leave a light on,
In case you ever wanted to come back home,
You smiled and said you appreciate the gesture,
I took your every word to heart,
'Cause I can't stand us bein' apart,
And just to show how much I really miss ya,

(chorus)
Every light in the house is on,
The back yard's bright as the crack of dawn,
The front walk looks like runway lights,
It's kinda like noon in the dead of night,
Every light in the house is on,
Just in case you ever do get tired of being gone,
Every light in the house is on,

If I should ever start forgetin',
I'll turn the lights off one by one,
So you can see that I agree It's over,
But until then I want you to know,
If you look south you'll see a glow,
Thats me waitin' at home each night to hold ya,

(chorus)
Every light in the house is on,
The back yard's bright as the crack of dawn,
The front walk looks like runway lights,
It's kinda like noon in the dead of night,
Every light in the house is on,
Just in case you ever do get tired of being gone,
ooooh Every light in the house is on,
The back yard's bright as the crack of dawn,
The front walk looks like runway lights,
It's kinda like noon in the dead of night,
Every light in the house is on,
Just in case you ever do get tired of being gone,
Every light in the house is on.

I've always liked that one...

Returning to the topic's title, I'm not much for listening to songs that have singing in them.. I've always liked instrumental... scores for movies... scores for video games... whatever, as long as it's good.
