Have you guys heard of the pastor killed in Iraq? I've heard that a lot of people have heard about him.

WAKEFIELD - As the death of Curtis Corner Baptist Church Pastor John Kelley receives local and national attention, his message of fearless conviction and unyielding faith is being heard by many, even as family and friends prepare to lay him to rest.
Kelley, 49, was killed by assassins last Saturday while on a Christian mission trip in Iraq with a group of pastors from across the Northeast. His body was flown back to the United States Monday night, and an autopsy was performed at a military base in Delaware. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Avery-Sorti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
(...)
Vukic, who has been handling media inquiries since news of Kelley's death broke, said he is "flabbergasted" by the widespread response. Through a family friend with a Christian radio connection, Monday he got to tell Kelley's story live, on-air to 237 Christian radio stations nationwide. While Vukic said the response is incredible, he also wants to stress the numbers of other missionaries still in hostile territory around the world. Fielding questions from media at the church Monday, he directed attention to a missions bulletin board, illustrating the 19 overseas missions the Curtis Corner Baptist Church supports, asking, "Do you realize that there are men and their families risking their lives every single day?"
Three other pastors from Kelley's group were injured in the attack. At press time, the other pastors were still in the Middle East, and plans for their homecoming are still unconfirmed, although Vukic said they are safe and under military care. |
Anyway, a good friend of ours is his daughter, and I'd like to ask for your prayer for her and her family. It is, of course, very hard on all of them.
If you're interested, here's more about him. |

I'll pray for them as well.
(And there goes the myth many people create about mission trips being safe.) |

Well, I think there's a bit of a difference between a missions trip to, say, Romania, and one to Iraq... |
