One of the churches I used to attend used annointing along with prayer in healing situations.
My little sister at one time was very, very sick. It turned out she had ensephalitus, her brain was swollen. We didn't know this at first, all we knew is that she was incredibly sick. She didn't know how to walk anymore, her hearing was messed up, and her vision too. It was really quite scary. Two of our Pastors came to the hospital, prayed over her and annointed her with oil. God worked a miracle and she was healed.
Agree with what Jared, annointing simply is an act of complete submission. We truly had to place my sister in God's hands, there was nothing humanly possible that we could do to make her better.
I guess we should treat all areas of our life like that, completly submitting. That what God calls us to do anyway.
I've prayed over my house before. I think it is a very important thing. The last house we lived in was very uncomfortable spiritually. My youngest sister at the time, was terrified to sleep there. I felt oppression too. Again, we along with our pastor prayed over the house. I think it really helped. We also prayed over the house we are in now. Its an old house and was rented out to many different people before we moved in. I spent a significant amount of time praying over it, and especially my room.
Ok, I am totally delving into a new topic, well somewhat. But I think sometimes Christians can forget how real spiritual warfare is, and how it is so neccessary to be tuned into God, and be praying over every situation in are lives.
Ok, yeah, I'm supposed to be writing a paper for my sociology class... not posting on this board. sigh. So I shall sign off for he time being. I guess. |

| In a way, anointing IS complete submission to God and it's also a call out to Him because there's nowhere else to turn. I've been anointed before for my headaches a few years ago and it's available for healing. When a Christian lets other know that he or she is hurting physically, anointing lets them know that you can pray for them and that they are hurting. Anointing doesn't mean you will get healed right away. However, on my account, I did get healed. I have a headache every now and then, but not constantly as I used to. I thank God for anointing. It doesn't have to be charismatic or crazy. Going to God with humbleness and submission is all that's needed. |

Very true. Annointing doesn't promise healing... Nor does prayer, by the way.
Both are acts of submission to the will of God, showing that we are willing to turn the situation over to Him... Both are good...
But God's ways are better than man's ways. Every prayer is answered, but not every answer is a "yes." |

that is very very true. One of my sisters did die, not the one who had enseph. but one that was completly healthy one day, and she stopped breathing the next. The morning she died I don't think there was a single member of our family who wasn't praying that she would start breathing again.
Sometimes it can be really hard when God answers your prayers by saying no... really hard. But I still am thankful that God is the one in charge and not me... I would really mess stuff up.
thats why I can't wait for heaven... sigh |

Annointing is prevenelnt in the Bible, OT and NT. David was annointed with oil when he was made king, andthe high priest was annointed with oil.
In the NT, it symbolises both the holy Spirit descending on you and the healing blood of Jesus. No one wants to use real blood, so oil is used instead.. Thankfully |
