With all the negative coverage in that supposed paper of record during and after the most recent war, The Weekly Standard made a funny parody of what the New York Times might have said after the Revolutionary War. Look over the whole thing! :)

Funny! Very funny! Were my eyes deceiving me, or was that a vulture in the top corner?? If it was, is it normally a vulture, or in real life would it have been an eagle? |

In the parody, yes... It's a vulture.
In real life? Well, a long time ago, it USED to be an eagle... But that was apparently WAY to patriotic. The current New York Times front page just has a box in the left corner with their slogan printed inside: "All the news that's fit to print."
Some conservatives say that the "Gray Lady" (NYT) should adopt a new slogan, though: "All the news that's fit to punt." |

| How about "all the news that's fit to print, some that isn't, and a lot we just made up 'cause we're not smart enough to find the real stuff" |

I think that they DO find the real stuff, then bury it. I mean, the fact that the Iraqi people have been liberated really, really pales in comparison to the fact that - gasp - women can't play golf at Augusta National!
The Times devoted FORTY-SIX articles to the supposed controversy at Augusta National and to crazy feminist Martha Burke, who has led this insane charge.
They'd never dare do HALF that many stories on something of significance... |
