My parents are probably more up to date with technology than I am.
My Mom definately doesn't embarrass me. My Dad...gotta love him, but his jokes...eh. Actually I don't mind unless it's something about me.

I have that problem with my grandma. She's a wonderful lady, don't get me wrong, but she doesn't understand technology at all. I always have to set her alarm clock for her—no joke! She has once or twice spoken of getting a computer but my family quickly talked her out of it. |

| I've been embarrassed many times by my parents, my dad in particular. I get over it, though. It doesn't seem to matter as much now as it did since I seem to be judged on my own behavior, rather than that of my parents (unlike when I was a kid..) |

My parents can be mildly embarrassing every now and then, but I can be too, so I guess we're even!
In my Adolescent Development textbook, I recently read the following quote from Mark Twain that's appropriate for this topic: "When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much he had learnt in seven years." |

I like Catpaw's signature. That is so true!
Anyway--what's embarrassing to me (and this can be as small or as big as you like it), is that
#1. My dad asks everyone even college students, how school is going; even in the summer. He doesn't know how to relate to people under 30.
#2. My parents not only don't understand technology, they are proud of that fact. They like the fact that we "kids" (ok, I'm no longer a kid, but anyway) have to get on the computer and do for them what they cannot do. I even type my dad's emails, because one time he didn't know how to shut down the computer and so he pulled the plug w/ the internet and several other programs running(!!!). |

| I am occassionally embarrassed by my parents...although I'm coming to see that in most cases, I'm probably the only one who sees the situation as not positive. Or at any rate, the other people would be able to sympathize because with the exception of the few here...most people have been embarrassed by their parents at some point. |

Same here. I have come to realize that it's my attitude not my parents actions thats embarrassing.

| I'm in college right, and my mom came in once to pay my tuition (of what my scholarships didn't cover) and I was with her and when we walked out the door some chick said "well, isn't she a b****" assuming she was talking to her friends (which I'm sure she was and not refering to my mom) my mom turned to her and said "Excuse me my daughter goes to college here and she's a little YOUNG for profanity" Talk about embarrassing. Just cuz I don't cuss doesn't mean I'm too young. |

When I first clicked on this thread, I was going to say "I hate all those shows and people where kids are embarressed about their parents! Such selfish brats!!! " But now I... I'm sorry, just let me... excuse me... |
