Hi! I know I haven't posted a message in a while but I noticed what I thought was an interesting article that had a weak link at best to Novacom about reading brains :-D

Well, this seems to be his first post after all. Give the newbies a break... don't scare them off.

Newbies? Heh.

Has our board membership changed so much that no one remembers Joshua Shelly?

Really, we've lost the vast majority of our early posters. Our oldest remaining posters around here are rather new. Consider, for example, Hawkeye. He's rather well-established around here, and yet he missed, I think, the first few years of the Town Hall.

Are Nathan, OdysseyFan, gimp, JoyElectric, Josh and I the only remaining members who remember the ORIGINAL Town Hall, way back when "Switchflood" was writing episode reviews?

UPDATE: Jacob Isom was around towards the end of that time period, and if I recall correctly, DrBlackgaard joined not too long after I did. Josh was actually a later arrival, although still in that early period.

To those few who were around back then, which early members have we lost? Who besides the above-mentioned were the original THers? Does anyone remember?

Yeah. So I was around a while back. I use to post on the "old/original" town hall all the time. I've posted a few times on the new TH. My "claim to fame" was the fact that I was part of the old "Odyssey Radio" with Jared.

BTW: If you want to know what the "old TH" looked like, click http://web.archive.org/web/20011019040620/www.switchflood.com/Reviews/townhall/index.htm .

About old posters, I think there was also Jeff. I don't remember Jeff ever really posting on TH during my time on the board but apparently sometime b/f I "arrived" he was pretty active in the AIO "world" with a website called The Ultimate AIO Website.

We've had so many new people here replace old ones that while at its peak, 130+ individuals listened to OR each week, I rather doubt that more than a dozen of them are still around. We're getting to the point, even, that most of our current members don't even remember the "Mole Boards," only being vaguely aware of the last remaining vestiges of such -- occasional mentions of highly edible waterfowl and various skirmishes involving foodstuffs. In short, this crowd is almost entirely different from the group I met when I first came to the Town Hall in 1999.

Here's an even older one from earlier in 2001. (Unfortunately, no captures would appear to exist from before 2001, although the design, as I recall, was rather constant throughout that period.)

Yeah. That was the place to be in the Odyssey world. I mean, Jeff Cunningham was the real-life Alex Jefferson. Literally. Jeff's AIM screen name used to be Jeff4Jesus. I think it was Mr. Younger who modified that to Jeff4Son -- Jefferson.

Looking back at those archived files brings back some memories. Remember when it used to be so few of us? A few of those early members I still run into online every so often -- Joseph Paul, Corey Willis, Dave, etc.

A few others I failed to mention are still around, at least some of the time. Jeremy, for instance, and Arthur Dent, or Paul B. Not to mention James M, although, I must admit, I hadn't recalled him being around back then, but the name's on the archived file I linked. (Also: In addition to an Arthur Dent, there's a "Ford Prefect" on there. Does anyone remember who that was? Is it someone who is still around under a different name?)

The discussion back then was so entirely different as well. I found a thread I started asking where Eugene was. I think that may have been the first on-board query as to that matter, although I'm not entirely certain. Now, that seems like a question we've been through three hundred times. (It has.) Elsewhere on that archived page, you'll find a link to a (not working -- no thread links work) post by "M Younger" announcing a new radio program called "Just South of Normal." How things have changed...

(We really need to get Marshal to drop by the new Town Hall on occasion!)

You know, I really like the new Town Hall and far prefer the threaded format, but the original TH was quite good. It was a small online community, but in a way, it was best that way, at least at the start. But enough reminiscing. Back to the topic, which was... which was...

Er, something.
