According to this article, accuracy unknown, the military conducted a strike on a convoy about a week ago that supposedly was to have contained Saddam Hussein. Wouldn't it be great if that intel was accurate and they really did get him?

DNA tests are being conducted at this time, according to the piece.

That would be great. I hope that it is accurate, and that it does not come from a source that also produces stories such as Alien gives birth to human triplets in San Francisco hospital or something like that.

Here is another link with a similar story. Interesting that these two stories are from foreign news sites. Wonder if that means anything.

Actually, the Observer isn't as tabloid-like as you might think. It mainly has that reputation because people mistakenly tie it directly in with its child product, The Gaurdian, which is a tabloid in the "gossip about celebrities" style. But then again, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp owns both Fox News and the tabloidish New York Post, but we don't disbelieve Fox News...

As for the "aliens abducted a grandmother who possessed the Ten Commandment tablets, located using code from the Dead Sea scrolls, which were written by Nostradamus, who was, of course, an alien himself"-style tabloids in England, I believe you're thinking of the Daily Mail, the Globe, and others like those.

Also, the Sydney Morning Herald is a highly respected newspaper. However, it should be noted that their source for that blurb is entirely the Observer, so they do not have reporting of their own to back the story up.
