Well, it's time to elect a sheriff. This is a two-vote election, but the system can only handle one vote at a time, so here is how this will be handled. On many ballots where the position itself is in question (recalls, beginnings of new positions, etc.), you vote yes or no to the initiative (in this case, the office of sheriff) and then, regardless of your vote there, cast a vote for sheriff.
If you vote "no" to the position of sheriff but still pick a choice, what you're saying is that you don't want a sheriff and have voted to keep us from having one -- but if the people decide that they want one, the person you chose is your first choice.
This poll can only handle the names of the candidates. So pick your choice in the poll... and then, if you OPPOSE the position of sheriff, post so here. I'll tally it up and if, for example, twenty people vote and nine people post to oppose the position, it's a de facto yes, as "no" got less than 50 percent, whereas if eleven posted to say "no," there would be enough for a majority and no sheriff would be elected.
It's a bit clumsy, I know, and I was going to set a script up on an external site to handle it, but most have more holes than this one that could easily lead to numerous votes being cast by a single person.
So, anyway... Cast your vote(s)!
[Note: Candidates are listed in order of their decision to run.]
And... My endorsement? I'm casting my vote for Elf of Rivendell. We may be bitter enemies (not really... but she was my opponent's campaign manager in the mayoral election ), but I think that she is best suited to the job and would be best able to carry out any functions that may eventually go along with it. (I have some ideas about what the sheriff may eventually be able to assist with...)
Now, go vote!

I did vote..but I will cast my other vote for "no".
As a side note: I was under the impression that Elf of Rivendell has no intention of running....oh well, not that it makes a difference, I guess I just have not been paying attention. |

Why not? That's considered normal...
No one really votes for their opponents! |

| Hawkeye can't be mayor and shariff, can he? If he wins both elections, do we get to vote for another shariff when he's mayor? Or if, I should say... |
